Disney Pandora= Happy Students

Happy Tuesday!  Right now I am listening to Disney Pandora...lucky for me I have all girls classes and so they like anything I play... and they all sing to it.  High School Musical...everyday in my classroom.  Might be a nightmare to some, but to me it is awesome!  Here is my outfit number 2...no I am not about to run away- haha, silly pose.

My Fabulous Day of Fashion!

Shirin Askari and I- Here is a picture of her from Project Runway- 1st season.  Her Spring/Summer line is out- http://www.shirinaskari.com/

Some pictures from the workshop!

What she taught us...some of the slides.

The paint I used...if you want the colors to be less bold then spray the fabric down, then paint.  I sprayed the back but not the front.

Using my first flat pattern.

Showing us how to Drape.

Finished Product.  Sort of Crazy!  I look emo here.

This was the only place I could take pictures with my camera... bummer, but these designs were pretty cool.  He obviously designed them for Texans...since we all ride horses in to work:)

I love the new science museum that they are building...sweet architecture!  Here is a tiny portion of it:)

The "fixed up" Miss Wilson is back

Day 1: Flapper shirt.  I really love the styles of the 20's!

Shirt: Buffalo Exchange- anthro/ Pants: Gap (same ones as last time), Shoes: Ross

We are crazy for doing this again....and crazy period.

Remix #2

Picked out my 30 pieces of clothing.  For some reason it was harder this time than the first.  I am doubting a lot of things...so I might be switching out as the days go by.  I also I have a few items that are from the first remix...no I did not buy all new clothes for this thing...was not about to.  It is sort of nice to already have an idea of what I will be wearing for the next 30 days...makes things easy!  I am too lazy and tired to  write out every item, but here are some numbers for ya:)  Shoes: 5, Jackets/ Blazers: 3, Cardigans: 2, Tops: 11, Dresses: 3, Pants: 3, Skirts: 3.

I was sewing up a storm tonight... inspired from Saturday.  I made a scarf out of the fabric I dyed.  I am so glad she taught us how to dye things... I just love manipulating fabrics like that (yes I am dork).  I cannot wait to show my kids and experiment with all kinds of vegetables, Rit, and even koolaid.

Then below is the "masterpiece" I had to think up in like an hour.  She taught us a few tips and ways to manipulate fabric then she said...ok do whatever.  Well all 15ish of us were racing around the room trying to share equipment, dyes, and fabric.  I don't really know why i painted bold stripes like this...after I was done I was like- Great...looks like bananas in pajamas.  I had just gone to the exhibition and he used a lot of stripes... he stinking influenced me.  The thing that I love about this, is that I used a flat pattern(have never done that before), and even did the lining on the armholes and stuff without a pattern- for some this may be simple, but I finally get it!  So I am somewhat proud of myself.  Now I can make more like it...

My little workspace at the Museum.  Loved it!  I will have more tomorrow about the workshop and my 1st outfit!

From Sidewalk to the Catwalk

I sort of had the best fashion experience today.  It was full of beautiful dresses (Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit), beautiful people (I don't think they let ugly people walk in the Dallas Museum of Art...really), fun workshops hosted by a project runway contestant (first season- Shirin Askari..she is adorable...we are now friends), and learning about dying/painting/smocking fabric (so fun...totally doing this with my students ASAP).  I will have lots of pictures of the workshop for ya on Monday:)

I want to show you some pictures of the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition (It will be at the Dallas Museum of Arts until Feb 12).  IT WAS AMAZING...even if you don't like fashion, you will like all 4 rooms of this exhibit.  The mannequins talk it this sort of creepy/awesome way, the dresses are so intricate (its really interesting to see how long he spent on each dress).  They have 130 of his dresses on display.  He is a very interesting fellow... has a little bit of everything- very out there on some of his stuff.  Here were some of my favorites... it is hard to see the details, but just believe me when I say they are crazy detailed.  Oh and he is known for the Madonna (spiky bra) look.  So glad that look entered the world.
