I want to brag on my students for a second. I am an advisor for a organization called FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America). I love doing this, because I get to meet some of the most kind, giving, mature teens. I had three students who are competing in a competition where you present a service project to judges. They wanted to do something with Cook Children's Hospital. We ended up donating food to a program called Parent Pantry Program. This is a new program that they set up for parents who are up at the hospital all the time, but cannot afford food. The patient gets meals daily, but the family does not. I thought it was a sweet idea. They also donated toys, stickers, coloring books, and little animals for the goodie bags they provide. They also had all of the FCS classes at Central make happy cards that are given to the kids. 20 students showed up at Cook's and we went on a tour of all of the new parts of the hospital- it is amazing...makes me want to volunteer this summer! I hope that it inspires some of the kids too! Here are a few pictures...
Here are the kids that came up with it all and headed it up!
